Need of the Hour: Community Mobilization for Power in our Profession

“If you don’t create change, change will create you.”

Dear California Ayurveda family:

The time for Ayurveda is here. I wish to explore what directions we, as one united community, must take to meet the challenges Ayurveda faces in the State of California today, which must be overcome for it to become a licensed profession.

There are so many projects that need our attention, and if only we had the support of a larger fraction of our states’ profession, we certainly could accomplish an astounding amount of success.  Just like many struggling Ayurvedic practices, CAAM is understaffed and underfunded, and CAAM’s leadership has to make difficult decisions about giving preference to some projects, to the detriment of others.

Some Ayurveda professionals say that they are not CAAM members yet, because they are waiting for CAAM to deliver results first.  They want CAAM to convince them with tangibles, while they wait on the side.  To them, I can say only one thing: GET INVOLVED!  The only way to ensure change and results from others is by changing ourselves, and serving as role models and catalysts for more significant changes.

If you want CAAM to deliver, join us to share your time, opinions, ideas, and expertise.  If you are a member and would like to offer your volunteer services, then contact us describing the ways in which you would like to contribute.

As someone eloquently said, “If you don’t create change, change will create you.”  Let’s create change and stay in control of our profession and our future.  Together, we can build a more encompassing organization, with the resources and power to represent the interest of Ayurveda in California.

How To Help

I want to express my gratitude for the leadership of our hardworking Board Members that serve on the board and our many committees who have helped pave the way for the success of the Ayurvedic profession in California. And while I am confident in our team, we need everyone to get involved! Now is the time to become a member or to renew your membership, make a donation to support the Ayurvedic cause via CAAM, sign up for a committee, attend one of our upcoming teleconferences and join our public events, to support and meet us. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me directly. I am so looking forward to the years ahead serving the Ayurvedic profession in California. Won’t you join me?

Yours in Health,

Acharya Shunya
